As your finishing up your summer
Rosés, Champagnes and Cavas, you’re probably
searching for wines that celebrate the whimsy of Fall.
I love cozy, medium-bodied Reds for this time of year,
but by all means try as many labels as possible. Allow
your palate to roam promiscuously from grape to grape.
La Garrigue Côtes du Rhône Cuvée
Romaine 2004
An unfiltered beauty made up of 60% old vine Grenache
and 40% syrah. This wine made me fall in love with the
grape all over again with its gorgeous violet color,
aromas of warm Oatmeal cookies and black cherry preserves
and flavors of blueberry pie. This wine is poignant
in its message, but delivers smoothly like Nas (in his
One Mic video). A real bargain at $12.95. Excellent
for sipping alone or paired up with mildly spiced-curry
and BBQ dishes.
